Was the balance of TV Republika’s confidential sub-account made public? “I will have to report the matter to the prosecutor’s office. I have no other option,” announced Tomasz Sakiewicz, the station’s CEO.
Tomasz Sakiewicz stated that the company has paid the full licence fee due for this year. He recalled that the National Broadcasting Council (Krajowa Rada Radiofonii i TV, KRRiT) had been unable to decide on payment in instalments due to a non-final court ruling that revoked the station’s broadcasting rights.
“I’ve seen various forms of gangsterism, but there aren’t that many stupid gangsters,” Sakiewicz began on air at TV Republika, referring to a publication by Bartosz Wieliński, who reported that the station’s funds had allegedly not been paid in full. “That was true, but the day before,” the station’s president admitted, explaining that the issue concerned the booking of payments originating from different accounts.
He added that this indicates that “a journalist from Gazeta Wyborcza has online access to the station’s confidential sub-account” at KRRiT.
“I will have to report the matter to the prosecutor’s office. I have no other option,”
Sakiewicz reiterated, explaining the consequences the station faces following the disclosure of such information.
