Vacation travel and fuel prices. Motyka speaks out

As the holiday season approaches, many Poles are wondering whether travelling by car will become more expensive due to fuel prices. However, Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka argues that drivers should not fear sharp price increases, even after the government CPN package expires.

After the CPN package expires, prices are not expected to rise significantly

The head of the energy ministry emphasized in an interview with Radio ZET that people planning holiday car trips do not need to assume a significant increase in travel costs.

The reduced VAT rate on fuel, introduced as part of the CPN package, will remain in force only until the end of June. As the minister noted, after that date no significant price increases at petrol stations should be expected.

“We do not expect drastic price increases after that date,” said Miłosz Motyka on Radio ZET.

The minister explained that the return to the previous VAT rate should be offset by the situation on global fuel markets.

Price declines on markets will offset any potential increases

Everything indicates that this increase, meaning the return to the previous VAT rate, should be absorbed by declines on the markets. These differences will likely amount to a few groszy compared to the CPN package, but we should remember that this package also has a cost, as it involves funds transferred from the state budget – Motyka explained.

As the holiday travel season approaches, many Poles fear that costs will rise significantly due to high fuel prices. Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka, in an interview with Radio ZET, reassures that despite the end of government subsidies under the CPN package, he does not expect a drastic increase in prices at petrol stations.
