Żurek caught breaking the law? Ziobro on how those in power fell into their own trap

“The motion to lift my immunity, instead of first going to the MPs and to me, since it concerns me, was sent to the regime television station TVN, which made it public,” said Zbigniew Ziobro on TV Republika. He announced that on Monday he would file a notice of a criminal offense in this matter.

The spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) Anna Adamiak informed that the 158-page motion from the prosecution to lift the immunity of former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro had been submitted to the Marshal of the Sejm. Journalists from TVN “obtained” access to the document. The reporter who reported on this matter on Thursday, Radomir Wit, was mocked by internet users:

“‘Obtained.’ You must think people are idiots. Żurek’s people handed over the papers to the Civic Platform’s media transmission belt,”
“Titanic work by reporters. Grand Press is waiting,”
“You were handed it directly by your party bosses with orders to create propaganda.”

The person concerned also reacted to the publication of the motion. Ziobro spoke about it on TV Republika.

“I am just finishing the preparation of a criminal report concerning Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek. Żurek and Tusk claim it is supposedly about enforcing the law and the rule of law. That is how they fight crime – by knowingly and deliberately committing a crime at the very start of the procedure related to filing charges against me and potentially arresting me,” he began.

“The motion to lift my immunity, instead of first going to the MPs and to me, since it concerns me, was sent to the regime television station TVN, which made it public, thereby preventing me from properly responding to the lies and manipulations contained in that motion,” the politician stated.

He emphasized that “not only did they thus break the law, […] but they also revealed the secrets of the investigation.” “Especially in detention-related cases, it is the rule that the prosecutor is always keen to protect the information contained in such a motion,” he said on TV Republika. “In this case, however, the prosecutor is acting quite the opposite.”

“Instead of protecting this information, they make it public even before the parliamentary procedures have begun. This shows what these people are really after. They talk a lot about the law, but in reality, they seek to destroy the opposition and take personal revenge on me because I got under their skin. Tomorrow I will file a notice of a crime that will concern Żurek,” Ziobro reiterated.
