The President of the “Solidarity” Trade Union Piotr Duda announced that on 22 October a protest of trade unionists will be held in front of the headquarter of the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg in connection with the situation of the Turów mine and power plant. “We are going to the +Tribunal of Injustice+ of the EU in Luxembourg to hand in the order to close this court. Just as the other side wants to close our workplaces, mines, power plants, taking away access to electricity,” he announced.
Duda recalled that after the first CJEU decision in May, “Solidarity” made it clear that it did not accept the CJEU vice president’s decision regarding the Turów mine and power plant.
“As trade unionists from Solidarność, and not only from Solidarność, we have to take our actions concerning these hard solutions, because the soft ones are over,” said the head of Solidarity.
He informed that the whole “Solidarity” decided to protest in front of the CJEU headquarters on 22 October in Luxembourg.
“We’re going to the EU’s “court of injustice” in Luxembourg to hand in an order to shut it down. Just as the other side wants to shut down our factories, mines, power plants, taking away access to electricity (…). In Luxembourg, they will see the strength of the Polish worker, the Polish miner. We can’t wait any longer,” said Piotr Duda.
At the same time, the leader of “Solidarność” informed that a request to the public prosecutor’s office is also being prepared with a notice on suspicion of committing a crime by the Vice President of the Court of Justice of the EU, Ms. Rosario Silva de Lapuerta, by endangering life and health of the inhabitants of Bogatynia, employees of the mine and power plant Turów. The request is expected to be forwarded to the public prosecution’s office in the coming days.
