DREMA 2022: The most awaited meeting for wood and furniture industry

Since all the tools and materials will be there, why not make them into furniture and send them to those in need straight after the fair? The Live Furniture Factory will be in operation during DREMA, which begins on Tuesday (Sep 13). The furniture sets produced there will go to children from orphanages in Ukraine.

The DREMA International Trade Fair of Machines, Tools and Components for the Wood and Furniture Industries is one of the world’s most important trade fairs for this sector. They are also one of the few events that have not been cancelled due to the pandemic – the fair was held in both 2020 and 2021.

“I hope that, as in previous years, against all odds, this year’s DREMA will be a celebration of the wood and furniture industry. We are organising this event convinced of the value and need for live meetings. As our exhibitors say >>no business without relationships<< (…) The situation in which our industry finds itself at the moment shows that DREMA is needed even more than before," Andrzej Półrolniczak, director of the DREMA trade fair, says.

The timber industry, which was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the second phase of the pandemic, has had a record-breaking 2021 and no worse first half of this year, according to a report prepared by Bank Pekao S.A. The excellent results obtained in an uncertain environment are the seal of a long period of consistent expansion of Polish producers within the EU sector. Now, however, the trend is changing; the war in Ukraine, inflation and problems with the availability of raw materials are making industry representatives less optimistic about the future.

There will be no shortage of discussions about this at DREMA. More than 300 exhibitors from 15 countries have announced their participation in the fair.

“The DREMA trade fair in Poznań is a presentation of technologies of tomorrow and solutions dedicated to woodworking, furniture industries, sawmills, and wood energy. It is complemented by fabric cutting and sewing machines, components for furniture production and furniture accessories, as well as adhesives and varnishes. A special space is the Wood Promotion Pavilion – a unique area where the potential of timber is demonstrated. During the four days, the trade fair offers a wealth of brand-new products and events on the most current issues in the wood and furniture industry, as well as live demonstrations, workshops, also, factories operating live. Apart from its purely business character, DREMA also has a number of other functions: educational, charitable, and promotional – all of that makes the offerings fully comprehensive and attracts crowds of professionals and enthusiasts involved in woodworking,” we can read on DREMA official website

A large part of the fair is devoted to woodworking, hand tools and power tools. This is a treat not only for professionals but also for DIY enthusiasts. The furniture will be packed right away and after DREMA will be transported to Lviv, to the DREAM Rehabilitation and Education Centre, which currently houses children from Lugansk and Donetsk orphanages.

A press conference to conclude the project will be held on Friday, September 16 at noon at the Live Furniture Factory stand.
