Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has expressed optimism that inflation rates in Poland will soon experience a sharp decline, beginning as soon as this month.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had a meeting as part of his tour of political rallies in Gorzów Wielkopolski on Sunday, garnering support for the upcoming parliamentary elections this autumn.

At a gathering with the local community, Prime Minister Morawiecki took the opportunity to discuss the current economic situation in Ukraine, citing the ongoing war with Russia as the main cause of the country’s high inflation rate.

“The European Union is facing a troubling issue: putinflation. Member States blame this economic phenomenon on the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis caused by Russian President Vladimir Putin,”

    Morawiecki said.

“But I also have good news here. In a moment – I think from April – just in these days… we will see a strong drop in inflation,”

    he said.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has promised that inflation in Poland will remain low in the lead-up to and following the upcoming elections.

“I deeply believe that this disease will stop bothering Poles,” he added.

A new report from Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) reveals that consumer prices in March increased 16.2 percent compared to the same period last year, and 1.1 percent compared to the previous month. This is a significant drop from February’s 18.4 percent year-on-year inflation rate.
