President Andrzej Duda spoke with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The presidents discussed, among others the vaccination program against Covid-19, energy security and sanctions on Nord Stream2, announced the presidential minister Krzysztof Szczerski.
Vaccination against Covid-19 began in Ukraine on Wednesday. The day before, the first batch of vaccine with 500,000 doses of Covishield, developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneka, arrived in Ukraine. It is produced in India by Serum Institute of India.
The vaccination campaign in Ukraine was delayed, the authorities announced that vaccinations would begin in the middle of the month. According to the plan, by the end of 2022, at least half of the population of approximately 40 million people in Ukraine is to be vaccinated.
The construction of the NordStream2 gas pipeline is strongly opposed by Poland, Ukraine, the Baltic states, and the USA. Critics of Nord Stream 2 indicate that the project would increase Europe’s dependence on Russian gas and expand the Kremlin’s influence over European politics. The project is supported by Germany, Austria and several other EU countries.
