On June 19 and 24, agents from the Rzeszów branch of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) detained three more individuals in connection with irregularities at non-public universities, the CBA announced on Tuesday.
Among those detained are the rectors of the Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences in Gdańsk and the Academy of Applied Sciences in Wrocław, as well as a professor from the Jagiellonian Academy in Toruń.
The investigation revealed that the detainees repeatedly provided financial benefits to members of the Polish Accreditation Committee. These benefits influenced decisions, actions, omissions, and opinions regarding the mentioned private higher education institutions.
The ongoing investigation has determined that the total value of the bribes amounted to at least 630,000 PLN (approximately $160,000 USD).
The procedural activities were conducted across the Mazovian, Łódź, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, and Lower Silesian voivodeships.
