Polish President Duda to Meet Trump for Strategic Talks

Polish President Andrzej Duda and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump are set to meet before Trump’s expected inauguration in January. According to Presidential Minister Wojciech Kolarski, the meeting will take place later this year, with dates likely falling in late November or December. This high-level interaction aims to address Poland’s upcoming presidency in the EU Council, which begins on January 1, 2025.

    Strengthening EU-US Relations

Kolarski emphasized that bolstering transatlantic relations is the top priority for Poland’s EU presidency. Duda and Trump will likely discuss collaborative frameworks between the EU and the U.S., especially as the transatlantic partnership faces evolving global challenges. Trump’s White House Chief of Staff-to-be, Susi Wiles, and Duda’s cabinet head, Marcin Mastalerek, are currently coordinating the event details.

President Duda has extended an invitation for Trump to visit Poland, potentially for the EU-U.S. summit during Poland’s EU presidency. Trump previously visited Poland in 2017 for the Three Seas Initiative Summit. This April, another Three Seas summit might present an opportunity for further discussions, as both leaders express strong interest in future engagements.

Kolarski confirmed Trump’s enthusiasm about the invitation, noting his keen interest in a visit to Poland. The meeting underscores a strategic commitment to enhancing transatlantic ties amid shifting global dynamics.
