As a result of the current events in Ukraine, restaurateurs from all over Poland are removing “Russian dumplings” from the menu. The change only affects the name – from now on the menu there are the “Ukrainian” ones.
More and more restaurants and shops are changing the name of Russian dumplings (Pierogi Ruskie) to Ukrainian dumplings (Pierogi Ukraińskie).
“We know that this is only a symbolic gesture, but it is also important in view of this terrible tragedy the Ukrainian people face (…) We cross out the word +ruskie+ from the menu, and we use +ukraińskie+ instead,” the restaurant owner from Zakopane told the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

As from today, we do not serve Ruskie Pierogi anymore, we will call them Ukrainian Pierogi with potato, cheese and onion.
