Is the ruling coalition delaying the Migration Pact until after the elections? That seems to be the case, based on what happened during the parliamentary EU affairs committee meeting.
“As part of the work, I proposed an amendment stating that the Migration Pact, and in particular the mechanism of so-called mandatory solidarity (relocation), cannot be implemented. The amendment was rejected—not by other countries, but by… Agnieszka Pomaska from the Civic Platform (PO), who chairs the committee and represents the Polish presidency in these parliamentary proceedings,” wrote PiS MP Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk on social media today.
Earlier this morning, the former foreign minister published a lengthy social media post devoted to the Migration Pact. He warned right at the start: “After the elections, they want to implement the Migration Pact—we have proof!”
Tusk’s Team’s Plan?
The MP reminded readers that on June 8–10, the most important parliamentary meeting of the Polish EU presidency, known as COSAC, will take place in the Sejm.
“As deputy chair of the EU affairs committee, I’m working on the conclusions to be adopted at this meeting. During the preparations, I submitted, among others, an amendment pointing out the inability to implement the Migration Pact—particularly the so-called mandatory solidarity (relocation) mechanism. This amendment was rejected not by other countries, but by… Committee Chair Agnieszka Pomaska from the Civic Platform, representing the Polish presidency in this parliamentary process,” he explained.
Szynkowski vel Sęk stressed:
“It was a Civic Platform MP representing the Polish presidency who threw out the amendment rejecting the implementation of the Migration Pact, including the mandatory solidarity mechanism—before any other country even had a chance to weigh in.”
“If Civic Platform, Donald Tusk, and Rafał Trzaskowski were truly committed to blocking the implementation of the Migration Pact, the Polish EU presidency would be the main tool to do so,”
he added.
Below, he shared a scan of the rejected amendment, which the ruling majority and MP Pomaska refused to support.

“Pretending to Be Critics”
The politician pointed out that it was the December 13 coalition that adopted the Migration Pact—in both December 2023 and May 2024—and stated that, “contrary to their public declarations, they do want to implement it.”
He added:
“As reported by the RMF FM correspondent in Brussels and by German journalists, work on the Pact has been put on hold only for the duration of the election campaign.”
“Domestically, they pretend to be critics. But in the EU forum, they’re unable to voice even half a sentence of opposition. That’s why the public must know the truth. They don’t want the truth to come out—which is why, for three months, they froze PiS’s draft resolution to unilaterally withdraw from the Migration Pact in the parliamentary committee. Only under pressure from our formal motion are they being forced to address it tomorrow in the EU affairs committee.”
The MP also urged voters to support Karol Nawrocki, saying he has a clear position on the issue.
“The truth is that the only truly effective safeguard against these disastrous ideas—which they’ve agreed to—could be Karol Nawrocki, after winning the presidential election. He not only has a clear stance but also the determination to stop the harmful actions of this government. That’s why these elections are so important,”
he concluded.
