    Nominations Revealed for Klio Award 2023 at Historical Book Fair

    In a press conference during the 31st Historical Book Fair in Warsaw, the nominees for the prestigious Klio Award 2023 were announced. Among the contenders are Paweł Kowal, Dorota Dukwicz, Małgorzata Omilanowska-Kiljańczyk, Agata Napiórska, and the International Cultural Center, State Publishing Institute, Institute of Literary Research PAS, and Jewish Historical Institute.


    In the authorship category, Paweł Kowal’s “Abakanowicz: Trauma and Glory,” Sławomir Łotysz’s “Pińskie Błota,” and Jakub Gałęziowski’s “Untold Biographies” made the cut. Monograph nominations include works by Natalia Judzińska, Dorota Dukwicz, and Anna Agnieszka Dryblak.

    Editorial nominations feature diverse works, including Międzynarodowe Centrum Kultury’s “Art in Uniform,” Państwowy Instytut Wydawniczy’s “Tadeusz Gajcy: Tale from Another World,” and Żydowski Instytut Historyczny’s “Ringelblum Archive.”

    Varsaviana nominees include Agnieszka Witkowska-Krych, Małgorzata Omilanowska-Kiljańczyk, Agata Napiórska, and Stefan Szczepłek.

    The jury, led by Prof. Tomasz Szarota, assessed 208 book proposals from 91 publishers, with winners to be revealed on November 30 during the Historical Book Fair’s opening ceremony.
