    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

The Polish and French national teams inaugurated the handball world championships in Katowice’s Spodek. The white and red team stood up to a strong rival but ultimately lost 24:26.

The match was full of emotions. Every minute, the Poles showed that they can afford a good match against the world champions. After seven minutes, the Poles even managed to get out to a two-hit lead.

Poland, however, did not give up. Even before the break, the tournament hosts managed to significantly erase their rivals’ advantage. After thirty minutes, France led 14:13.

In the second half, the Poles seemed to be more motivated. Initially, both teams played head-to-head. A few minutes towards the end, the French used their experience and seamlessly scored three goals taking their team into the lead.

In the end, Poland showed great heart and left a lot of energy on the court. Unfortunately, the rival was quite better. France won 26:24.

The white-reds will play their next match in the World Championships on Saturday, January 14. This time, they will play against Slovenia.
