Andrzej Rzeszutek has made history as the first Pole to win a gold medal in the one-meter springboard diving event at the European Championships. Held in Belgrade, the competition saw Italians Matteo Santoro and Stefano Belotti secure silver and bronze respectively.
This triumph is part of a notable week for Polish aquatics. Aleksandra Błażowska recently claimed silver in the women’s one-meter springboard competition, and the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team earned a bronze medal. Rzeszutek’s gold came after a dramatic finale where he overtook Santoro in the final dive, with Belotti narrowly edging out fellow Pole Kacper Lesiak for the bronze.
