President Karol Nawrocki announced yesterday that he would once again submit to the Senate a motion to hold a referendum on the EU’s climate policy. Today, he addressed members of the Solidarity trade union directly. “You can count on me,” Nawrocki wrote.
On Wednesday, the Senate refused to approve the president’s proposal to call a referendum on the European Union’s climate policy. The president had proposed that the referendum be held on September 27, with the following question: “Are you in favor of implementing a climate policy that has led to rising living costs for citizens, higher energy prices, and increased costs of doing business and farming?”
“I heard that the question was inappropriate. The issue is far too serious (…) for a poorly worded question to determine whether there will or will not be a referendum on the Green Deal,”
the president said during a meeting with residents of Sokołów County.
The president’s remarks were noticed by Solidarity. Today, the president addressed the union’s leader directly.
“Mr. Chairman, dear Piotr, thank you for your unwavering fight for a better everyday life for millions of Polish women and men. You can count on me,”
Karol Nawrocki wrote, addressing Piotr Duda.
