Tragedy in Poland: Respected Surgeon and Humanitarian Lost to Deadly Floods

Dr. Krzysztof Kamiński, a prominent surgeon and head of the General Surgery Department at Nysa County Hospital, has been confirmed as the fifth victim of the catastrophic flooding in southwestern Poland. The 71-year-old physician was reported missing after failing to return home following a weekend shift in Prudnik. His car was found abandoned, and search efforts began immediately.

On the night of September 15-16, Kamiński’s body was discovered near Jagiellońska Street in Nysa, an area submerged by floodwaters. The difficult terrain required rescue teams to use heavy machinery to access the area.

Kamiński’s son-in-law confirmed his death on social media, requesting prayers for the well-respected doctor, who had also participated in humanitarian missions with “Doctors Without Borders.”

The hospital in Nysa, where Kamiński served for many years, has since been fully evacuated as the region continues to face the devastating effects of the flooding. Authorities have described the situation as increasingly dire.
