Budimex to build part of a dam on the border between the European Union and Belarus

On 4 January 2022, after negotiations conducted with the Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Border Guard, Budimex signed a contract for the construction of a part of the dam on the border between the European Union and Belarus. The company will execute the project on market terms, being one of few companies on the Polish market that has adequate resources and experience to professionally execute such an order on time.

The company has the capacity and experience to complete such a task in a timely manner. It executes over 200 construction contracts with unit values of up to PLN 2 billion in each construction cycle. As a company, it implements the most complex construction works and engineering structures in Poland. In 2020, the company completed in Racibórz the largest flood control reservoir in Poland with an area of 26.3 square kilometers and a capacity of 185 million cubic meters. The company implements the works with Polish engineers (5,000 people) and its own construction equipment (over 0.5 thousand units of equipment). Polish subcontractors and local companies are also engaged in work throughout the country.

“We understand the unique nature of this investment. We are on the list of strategic companies from the defense point of view. We, therefore, have a duty to act for the country in the event of security-specific situations. In the same way, we responded to the call for the construction of temporary hospitals or the completion of road and railway works after other general contractors who had walked away from their contracts. We are also the largest Polish construction company and we have an obligation to support this investment within the framework of our knowledge, competence, and equipment capabilities. This investment is a joint undertaking of the whole European Union and aims at stabilizing the situation on the border,” says Artur Popko, the President of Budimex.
