The Mountain Museum in the building of the Skalite amphitheatre in Szczyrk is now officially open!

From today, you can officially visit the Mountain Museum in Szczyrk, which was put into use yesterday. It will show the history of tourism and sports in the Beskids, as well as the history of the folk culture of the region. As the city of Szczyrk explains, “The museum will reflect a broad view of the history and development of a tourist destination closely related to skiing and the cultural heritage of the Carpathians.”

The ceremonial ceremony was preceded by cutting the ribbon by the Mayor of Szczyrk, Antoni Byrda and Stefan Hula – ski jumper, Olympic bronze medalist from Pyongyang. During the event “From adept to a champion” there was an opportunity to talk with Stefan Hula about his passion for ski jumping, and you could also listen to lectures on the history of jumping and Beskid Olympians, led by Wiktor Pekala. Once again, Szczyrk was also visited by a large group of guests from the Czech Republic from the part of the Czech Partner – the Kaniovice Commune. The guests, apart from the Mountain Museum, also visited the facilities belonging to COS OPO Szczyrk, preceded by the ascent to the top of the Skalite ski jump by the ski lift.

The new museum was established in the building next to the Skalite ski jump complex named after Beskid Olympians, right next to the promenade over Zylica, as part of the micro-project “Mountain Museum – we discover the history of sports and tourism in the Beskids”.
