Two Polish runners advanced to the finals of the Diamond League! Athletissima Lausanne, August 26

On August 26, two Polish athletes advanced to the finals of the Diamond League! A great performance at the Athletissima annual athletics meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland. The 24-year-old European Championship Vice-Champion Natalia Kaczmarek did not manage to repeat her latest excellent results from August (49.86 in Chorzów and 49.94 in Munich). However, she took 5th position (51.03), and together with Michał Rozmys, advanced to the grand final of the Diamond League in Zurich on September 7-8. Michał Rozmys was 5th in the 1500m race and broke his life record by 0.24 seconds. This is still the 2nd best result in the history of Polish athletics in this competition.

As the name suggests, athletes on the Diamond League competitions fight for trophies with diamonds. They have been collecting points throughout the whole season (the winner gets 8, second 7, etc. up to 1), but it is not the sum of points that determines the victory in a given competition. Points are treatet as tickets to the finals. In addition to the diamond trophy, athletes also compete for cash prizes.

Points of the European Championship Vice-Champion Natalia Kaczmarek and Michał Rozmys guarantee a spot in the final.

The best Polish  1,500 meters runners in history:

    3: 30.42 Marcin Lewandowski (2021)
    3: 32.43 Michal Rozmys (2022)
