Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, and President of The Polish Electricity Association Management Board, met with EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson. The topics of the conversation were electricity market reform and European energy security.
At the meeting with the Commissioner, President Wojciech Dąbrowski referred to conventional units as support for the electricity system and the need to maintain the power market as a safeguard in the event of a shortage of capacity in the system, as well as the construction of nuclear power plants as an element of independence from Russian energy resources. He pointed out that the Polish power sector is currently focusing on the development of renewable energy sources, including offshore, energy storage, grid development as well as nuclear power.
During his introductory speech to the debate ‘Independent power system of the future – security of supply’, President Wojciech Dąbrowski also called for the principle of technological neutrality to be respected:
