PKP Intercity Accused of Discriminating Against Polish Rail Manufacturers

MP Moskal accuses PKP Intercity of excluding Polish train manufacturers, sparking protests and legal actions by industry leaders.

Polish MP Michał Moskal recently criticized PKP Intercity for allegedly excluding domestic manufacturers from a substantial train procurement. Moskal claims that the company’s criteria for ordering 72 double-decker trains, worth 17 billion PLN, effectively shut Polish manufacturers out of the bidding process. He has submitted a parliamentary inquiry to the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, regarding the procurement procedures.

Newag Files Complaint with National Appeal Chamber

Joining Moskal in his concerns, Polish train manufacturer Newag filed a formal complaint with the National Appeal Chamber (KIO), echoing claims of unjust exclusion from the tender. Both Moskal and Newag argue that the criteria limit competition and favor foreign suppliers, potentially harming Poland’s rail industry.

Request for Oversight by Anti-Corruption Bureau

To ensure transparency, Moskal has requested oversight from Poland’s Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA). Expressing support for local manufacturers, he emphasized his hope for a fair outcome from KIO, showing solidarity with Polish rail manufacturers amid these concerns.
