Iga Świątek Advances to Indian Wells Semifinals as Caroline Wozniacki Retires Due to Injury

Polish tennis player Iga Świątek advanced to the semifinals after her opponent, former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, retired prematurely from their quarterfinal match.

The Danish tennis player had initially taken a commanding lead in the first set, leading 4-1. However, Świątek demonstrated her resilience and swiftly bounced back, stringing together five consecutive games to claim the set with a score of 6-4.

As the second set began, it was evident that Wozniacki’s injury was hindering her performance. After Świątek secured an early 1-0 lead, Wozniacki made the difficult decision to retire from the match, handing the victory to her Polish counterpart.

Świątek with this victory sets her sights on the next obstacle in her quest for the Indian Wells title: Ukrainian player Marta Kostiuk. She secured her place in the semifinals by defeating Russian Anastazja Potapowa in the quarterfinals with a score of 6-0, 7-5.
