Official Responds to Track Sabotage Concerns, Urges Caution in Blaming Russia

“We have damage to a track, and the track didn’t damage itself. Someone must have damaged it in some way,” said Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Duszczyk. He nevertheless appealed to the public not to attribute every incident to Russia.

Asked on Polsat News about the damage to the railway tracks on the Warsaw-Dęblin line, Duszczyk noted that Poland has been dealing with various forms of sabotage for quite some time. “This may be one such act of sabotage. We are not ruling that out in any way,” he said.

He also addressed reports that people had heard an explosion. “The police do not confirm such an event,” Duszczyk stated. However, he emphasized that the situation is very serious and must be clarified in great detail. “The relevant services are working – internal security, the police, the prosecutor’s office. I think that tomorrow or the day after, there will be more information on this matter,” he said.

“We have damage to a track, and the track didn’t damage itself. Someone must have damaged it in some way. Please allow the services to do their work now: to determine how it was damaged, what tools were used, and then to carry out the full procedure,” he said.

He also appealed to the public not to blame Russia for every incident. “Because Russia is not so powerful that every arson or every similar situation is provoked by Russia. On the other hand, we cannot rule it out or dismiss it,” the deputy minister added.
