Scientists from the University of Economics and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow want to create a Virtual Museum of Forgotten Inventors. As part of the Timeless project, documents, photos and other archives of the discoverers would be digitized.

The first meeting of scientists that started the implementation of the project has already taken place, the universities announced on Tuesday.
Timeless project will preserve documents, notes, photographs, films and other memorabilia of Polish inventors. Such archives are now often found in private family collections and in smaller local collections. Many of these cultural heritage sites are not maintained and are not open to the public.
The idea to preserve the memorabilia in the Virtual Museum of Forgotten Inventors was born during the production of films for the documentary series of Polish Television ‘Geniuses i dreamers’. It tells stories of forgotten Polish inventors such as Jan Szczepanik, Stefan Banach, Kazimierz Prószyński, and Tadeusz and Czesław Tański. Thanks to the Timeless project, objects found during the making of these films will be able to survive time.
Before the memorabilia are digitized and created a virtual museum, scientists will test the air quality in the place of their storage and develop a strategy for their preservation. The work will be carried out by experts from the Department of Microbiology of the Institute of Quality Sciences and Product Management and the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University.
