    [UPDATE] Iga Świątek – the first Polish player in tennis history to become singles World No.1! [VIDEO]

    Iga Świątek has been undefeated for 11 games and started another tournament on Friday (March 25) in Miami (WTA 1000). The Polish tennis player played for a historic result. Victory over the Swiss Viktorija Golubić allowed her to become the best player in the world, so the No.1!

    On Monday, Iga became vice leader of the rankings. She had a great chance to become No.1. It was possible after the match over Swiss Viktorija Golubić. “With No.1 Ashleigh Barty’s retirement, the Australian will vacate the Hologic WTA Tour’s top spot in the next rankings cycle, which will take place on April 4 after the WTA 1000 event in Miami concludes,” WTA informed.

     

    “Świątek has swept the first two WTA 1000 events of the season, in Doha and Indian Wells. She is currently riding a career-best 11 match winning streak and is the first player since Caroline Wozniacki in 2009 to win five or more titles before her 21st birthday,” WTA wrote.
