‘We are in favour of opening schools’. What will the return of older students look like?

We would be in favour of opening schools gradually, but where it is possible and safe to do so; I do not expect it to be an overnight opening of all schools – said government spokesman Piotr Müller.

A government spokesman on Radio Plus addressed the issue of pupils returning to school and whether this is possible before the end of the school year. Müller acknowledged that every 2-3 weeks of standardized learning is of great value not only from an educational point of view but also from a social one.

‘We would be in favour of making decisions, whenever possible, that is safe enough to open schools, but still in the direction of the opening where it is possible, of course. I don’t expect all schools to open overnight, but gradually, if the situation allows, we would be in favour of it,’ said Müller.

Elementary school students in grades I – III who had been learning remotely since Nov. 9 returned to in-school learning on Jan. 18. However, due to the epidemic situation from March 1 in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeships, students from these classes are again learning remotely. In Pomerania, on the other hand, from March 13 to March 20 hybrid education will be introduced in classes I – III of primary schools. In other provinces, the youngest students are still learning in schools.

Students from classes IV-VIII of primary and secondary schools have been learning remotely since October 26.
