Grbić Unveils Squad for Paris Olympics: Poland’s Volleyball Quest Begins

Nikola Grbić, head coach of Poland’s national men’s volleyball team, has announced the 13 players set to compete in the Paris Olympics. The roster includes three attackers—Bartosz Kurek, Łukasz Kaczmarek, and Bartłomiej Bołądź—while notably omitting receiver Bartosz Bednorz. This decision comes after Grbić’s extensive deliberation and analysis, aiming to secure Poland’s second Olympic volleyball medal.

Grbić explained his meticulous process, emphasizing the contributions each player could make. “Every player, not just from this group of 17, deserves to go to the Olympics. Each of them can contribute to the team in one way or another,” he stated. Significant cuts from the 17-man squad, which recently finished third at the Nations League final tournament, include setter Marcin Komenda, receiver Bartosz Bednorz, middle blocker Karol Kłos, and libero Jakub Popiwczak.

The men’s volleyball tournament at the Paris Olympics will run from July 27 to August 10, with Poland facing Egypt, Brazil, and Italy in the group stage. The team will also participate in the Wagner Memorial (July 12-14) and a friendly tournament in Gdańsk. As anticipation builds, fans are eager to see how Grbić’s selected squad performs on the world stage, hoping to bring home a historic Olympic medal for Poland.
