Police in Ustron have apprehended a man following a car chase, during which he tried to evade a routine traffic stop. The suspect, who was sought by authorities under seven arrest warrants, now faces additional charges for failing to stop for police, drug possession, and driving without a valid license. He was immediately transferred to a local prison, with a potential sentence of up to five years in jail.
The incident unfolded when police patrolling Leśna Street in Ustron noticed the suspect’s erratic behavior behind the wheel of a Hyundai. As officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the 49-year-old driver ignored their signals and fled the scene. After a brief pursuit, the man abandoned his vehicle in the nearby village of Kiczyce and attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended.
A check in police databases revealed that the driver was wanted in connection with several convictions by courts in Cieszyn and Bielsko-Biała, with a two-year prison sentence already pending. Additionally, he had been driving despite having his license revoked and was found in possession of illegal drugs.
In addition to the earlier sentences, the suspect now faces new charges, including drug possession and evading police, which could lead to a sentence of up to five years. He was also fined for traffic violations.
