14. Suwłaki Blues Festival will start this year on July 8 and will last four days. During that time, blues fans will be able to listen only to blues concerts performed by Polish musicians.
Suwałki Blues Festival is the biggest blues festival in Poland. Last year it was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This year the Suwałki Cultural Centre has planned to organize the event on 8-11 July. Among the performers will be: Nocna Zmiana Bluesa, Magda Piskorczyk, Martyna Jakubowicz, SBB feat. Sebastian Riedel and the Waglewski&Łęczycki duo.
“From July 8 to 11, blues music fans will be able to enjoy the sounds of their favourite music live. After a period of the pandemic, but still, under the sanitary regime, we are back with the organization of the Suwałki Blues Festival” – said Czesław Renkiewicz, the President of Suwałki, at a press conference on Monday.
The President added that it would be a unique edition because only Polish blues stars will perform on it. “Despite the lack of European and world celebrities of this music, I guarantee that the festival will, as always, stand on a high artistic and organizational level,” stressed Renkiewicz.
Every year, Suwałki Blues Festival gathers thousands of fans of this kind of music. “Your Blues” quarterly has named the festival the blues event of the year four times (in 2008, 2012, 2017 and 2019). Suwałki Blues Festival is organized by the Suwałki Town Hall and the Suwałki Cultural Center. During the last festival in 2019, the audience heard about 50 concerts, which took place on several stages in the city centre, but also in clubs and bars. Over 200 musicians performed on stage.
“Everyone longs to interact with live culture. I am glad that being with the festival from the beginning we can organize the next edition. People come here to sway, to be comforted by music, but also to feel a good atmosphere,” said the festival’s Artistic Council Member Jan Chojnacki.
