The situation is also tremendous in the city itself.
The invading forces have already captured the vast majority of Severodonetsk, and nearly 500 civilians, including about 40 children, have taken refuge in the Azot chemical plant. On Sunday, Ukrainian military expert Oleh Zhdanov relayed reports that President Vladimir Putin had set army commanders a deadline of 22 June by which Severodonetsk should be under Kremlin control.
Capturing Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region remains a crucial objective of the Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine. Before the enemy invasion, the city had a population of over 100,000. Today, there are probably around 10-11 thousand people there.
