    Father’s Day in Poland!

Every year, on the 23rd of June, Poles wish all the best to their fathers on the occasion of Father’s Day. In Poland, this day is not a public holiday unlike in Spain.

The first celebration of Father’s Day was in 1965. On this day, young, old and grown-up children wish their fathers well and give them presents. They show their love and respect for them.

Father’s Day was launched in the United States. The first celebration of this holiday dates back to 19 June 1910. The idea came from Sonora Smart Dodd, daughter of Civil War veteran William Smart. She wanted to celebrate Father’s Day similarly to Mother’s Day is celebrated. The holiday was officially established in the United States by President Nixon in 1972.
