In a recent ceremony in Włodawa, President Andrzej Duda expressed his support for the dedicated individuals safeguarding Poland’s borders, emphasizing the importance of their role in protecting the nation’s interests. The event, which included the presentation of honors to the Border Guard officers and the unveiling of a monument to Gen. Franciszek Kleeberg and the soldiers of the Independent Operational Group “Polesie,” was an opportunity for President Duda to address concerns raised by the film “Zielona granica” (The Green Frontier) directed by Agnieszka Holland.
President Duda strongly condemned any insults or derogatory remarks made against border defenders, stating that such actions were despicable. He emphasized that Poland, as a free, sovereign, and independent nation for over 30 years, has never initiated aggression against others. The Border Guard officers, supported by soldiers protecting Poland’s borders, the European Union, and the Schengen Area, play a vital role in ensuring the safety and future of Poland’s citizens. President Duda lamented attempts to undermine their dignity and the symbols they represent.
He assured the Polish people that they appreciate the service of these dedicated individuals and stand firmly behind them, reinforcing the belief that most citizens stand as a united front in support of Polish border defenders and their mission.
