Silesian Voivodeship to Receive Over €652 Million for Zero-Emission Rail Fleet

The Silesian Voivodeship in Poland is set to undergo a major environmental transformation with a substantial investment of over €652 million from European funds. The funding, part of the European Regional Development Fund, aims to procure a zero-emission rail fleet, totaling nearly €1 billion. This strategic initiative, announced by the Regional Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, aligns with the broader European Union’s 2021-2027 program for the Silesian region.

The project, a cornerstone of the Fund for Silesia 2021-2027, focuses on acquiring 26 state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, and zero-emission rail units. This green fleet, tailored for the needs of passengers with disabilities, will enhance travel comfort and contribute to the region’s environmental and ecological goals. The investment, spearheaded by the Silesian Voivodeship government and implemented by Koleje Śląskie, will serve key transport routes, fostering economic development and a greener future.
