Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced that the Law and Justice party (PiS) will back the proposal for so-called “Babciowe” benefits. However, he noted that the current plan is significantly scaled down from the original and will require amendments.
Project Overview: Supporting Working Parents
The proposed “Aktywny rodzic” bill aims to aid parents in balancing work and childcare responsibilities. It introduces three benefits for parents of children aged 12 to 35 months: active parents at work, in daycare, and at home.
Morawiecki affirmed PiS’s support for the project but highlighted its diluted nature compared to the initial plan. He pledged to advocate for restoring the original scope and indicated that PiS would submit amendments.
