“FIFA found no grounds to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Kamil Glik after absurd accusations by the English federation. The case, at least as far as FIFA is concerned, has been closed,” said Polish national football team manager Jakub Kwiatkowski. After the Poland-England match, Glik was accused of racism and he and his wife received threats from English fans.
The Polish players played a very good match in the World Cup qualification and draw 1:1 with the favoured vice-champions of Europe – England. Rivals probably couldn’t stand and after the match began to accuse Kamil Glik of racism, and FIFA received from English representatives the official complaint
Glik was alleged to have engaged in racist behaviour during a clash after the end of the first half with Manchester City defender Kyle Walker. This upset Harry Maguire and reacted furiously. Both players were later shown yellow cards. Glik assured the English press that it was only a “verbal dispute”.
Soon, the wife of the footballer, Marta Glik, published on social media offensive insults and death wishes against the player and his entire family, which she received after the match from British fans.
Back in September, FIFA involved João Morais who started to explain the allegations. “And it quickly became clear that there were no insults after all,” journalist Sebastian Staszewski reported. Now FIFA representatives have come to the same conclusion.
“According to our standpoint expressed from the very beginning, FIFA found no grounds to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Kamil Glik after the absurd accusations made by the English federation. The case, at least on FIFA grounds, has been closed,” informed Jakub Kwiatkowski from PZPN.
