“We want to cooperate with Russia and Belarus, but not with a gun to our heads,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told at a press conference after speaking with the President of the European Council President Charles Michel about the situation on the border with Belarus.
“The events on the Polish-Belarusian border may look like a migration crisis, but it is a political crisis aimed at the destabilization of the EU. It is also Lukashenko’s silent revenge for our support for the democratic elections in Belarus last year,” the Prime Minister added.
The head of the Polish government stressed that we need to work together to find the right solutions “so that Poland and the European Union remain safe so that we can develop peacefully, as we have done in recent years”.
“We want to cooperate with Russia and Belarus, but we do not want to cooperate with a gun to our heads, but with countries that are democratic and which, at the same time, do not use political blackmail. Because this is how we treat these actions that we face today on our eastern border,” Prime Minister Morawiecki stressed.
PM @MorawieckiM: The border between #Poland and #Belarus is the border between the state of law and the state of lawlessness, which uses innocent people as human shields to enforce certain behaviors. So we want to work out a common response within the #EU. pic.twitter.com/hGTiynQ9xt
