Formula 1: Robert Kubica and Orlen will continue their cooperation with Alfa Romeo

Robert Kubica will remain Alfa Romeo’s reserve driver next year and Orlen will remain the Formula One team’s title sponsor, the Polish fuel group’s chief executive Daniel Obajtek told during the press conference in Warsaw.

In 2021, Kubica appeared twice as a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen. He finished 15th in the Dutch Grand Prix and 14th in the Italian Grand Prix. As Obajtek informed, Kubica would also compete in long-distance races next year – just like this year.

The nearly 37-year-old Kubica is the first-ever and only Pole to compete in Formula One, where he made his debut in the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. As a member of BMW Sauber, his only victory came in June 2008 when he won the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

In 2010, he moved to the Renault team. His career was interrupted by a serious crash in the Italian rally Ronde di Andora in 2011. In 2018, he returned to Formula One and became a reserve and development driver for the Williams team. Since 2020, he has had the same role in Alfa Romeo Racing, sponsored by Orlen. In 2020, in the colours of Orlen Team ART competed in the DTM racing series. From 2021, he will compete in the European Le Mans Series endurance race as part of the Belgian WRT team.
